MJQE Company Signs MOU with International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES)

Phnom Penh: Wednesday, 6th of November 2019. MJQE Company Signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) to promote education in Cambodia. The broadening of cultural exchange opportunities will transform the academic experience of students in the region and the world.

International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in the USA. ICES is an international youth exchange organization. For almost three decades, ICES has promoted a more peaceful world by advancing international awareness and cultural understanding for thousands of students, schools and host families around the world.

MJQE choose to sign the MOU with AYC by International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES) Thailand because MJQE has been working with this company for over three years to run TESOL House. AYC has been in a very good cooperative and supportive partner. We have a fruitful result in term of working and communicating.

ICES Cambodia is a one-year high school student exchange program to a host family in the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Australia, Oceania or Antarctica.

The agreement between MJQE and ICES facilitates:
1. Sending grade 10 & 11 students in high school to exchange programs to the United States of America (USA), United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Thailand and other countries

2. Offers international students the rare opportunity to learn about another culture, experience new customs and traditions, and establish lifelong friendships.
3. Allows students to discover themselves while living with an American or other foreign host family, attend high school and improve their English skills.

With the formalization of this agreement, ICES is now active in 55 countries: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Honduras, Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of PRC, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macau Special Administrative Region of PR, Mali, Mexico, Mongolia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Nigeria, and Cambodia.

The MJQE senior management team will have a two-week training and a trip to the UK and France organized by AYC. This orientation and hands on with the experience will help confirm that Cambodian students will receive satisfactory services.

ICES Cambodia in cooperation with ICES Thailand also has Short Program and an English Camp opportunities for students.

1). Short Program
Short Programs/ Study Tours: Provide short study tours for Cambodian students in: USA, UK, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Japan and Singapore). English Camps (English Camp Abroad)

Provide edutainment camps in English abroad for Cambodian students in: USA, UK, Taiwan, China, Singapore and Thailand

In launching this program, ICES Cambodia will offer a 100% Scholarship for an AII/AIS student to study for 1 year in the USA.

Requirements and Conditions:
1) Students must be between the age of 15 and 18 years and six months.

2) Students must have sufficient command of the English Language to enable them to function well in an English Speaking academic and community environment.

3) General Knowledge Test for Students
a. Students have to take ELTiS (English Language Test for International Students).

b. Students must have a minimum of a “C” average (grade point average of 2.0) over 3 years of study.
c. A transcript in English with a school seal or a translation of the student’s transcript by a certified English translator showing at least 3 years of gradesmust be submitted with the application.
d. Please ensure that photos are RECENT and include:
a. A photo of the student with a SMILING face. This photo will also appear on the student’s AYC by ICES ID Card.
b. A family photo
c. A photo of the student’s home and community,
d. ONE photo of the student with friends and
e. A photo of the student participating in his/her favorite hobby or sport.
e. A letter written by the student. It should be detailed,reflecting family life, school activities and personal interests and hobbies.
4) A student may be accepted with up to four (4) missing vaccines, but the first Hepatitis A vaccine and the first Hepatitis B vaccine are mandatory. AYC BY ICES will not accept applications missing the 1st Hepatitis A or 1st Hepatitis B vaccines. A link with the complete list of all the immunization requirements in the U.S. state the student is placed is provided with the PCF (Placement Confirmation Form).
5) Ensuring that each participant obtains the appropriate travel documents. Ensuring that each participant is adequately financially supported by his/her natural parents throughout participation in the program (AYC BY ICES recommends $300 USD but no less than $250 USD per month).
