PHNOM PENH: On Friday, 1 March, a renowned Singapore artist, Art Foo, unveiled his latest masterpiece, an art book titled “Under Cambodian Skies.” The book launch is fully sponsored by Himawari Hotel Apartments and supported by the Singapore Club Cambodia and the Singapore Alumni Association of Cambodia; this charitable initiative aims to showcase Foo’s artistic collection of exquisite watercolor paintings inspired by Cambodia’s captivating landscapes and cultures.
The launch event was graced by the esteemed guest of honor, Singapore Ambassador H.E. Teo Lay Cheng, and a gathering of distinguished individuals from diverse backgrounds, including members of royalties, public figures, professionals, and artists. This unique blend of attendees reflects art’s universal appeal and impact in bringing people from all walks of life together.
Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng was delighted to witness the book launch for charity by Singaporean artist Art Foo, “Under Cambodian Skies,” and she addresses what Art Foo brings to life, a studied observation of what she believes are some of Art Foo’s favorite memories of Cambodia.
She added that from the majestic allure of Angkor Wat to flowers in full bloom along Sisowath Quay, the artist’s keen attention to details transports readers on an enchanting journey of Khmer history and everyday lives.
“As an amateur artist myself, I am only too aware that watercolor is a difficult medium as a single wrong stroke can completely ruin an entire composition.” Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng said.
“However, in the hands of Art Foo, the medium’s viscosity was masterfully used to achieve stunningly beautiful effects, and Under Cambodian Skies is a unique compendium of visual treats and more.” She added.
Andrew Tay, Director of Himawari Hotel Apartments, mentioned that it’s an honor to launch a book that is not merely a collection of images but a profound narrative painted through the delicate strokes of Art Foo’s “Under the Cambodian Skies” and that is the gathered in this ballroom, united by our appreciation for the delicate blend of art and philanthropy.

His work is a testament to the profound connection between humanity and the canvas of many landmarks for the last ten years.” Andrew Tay said.
“Today is not just about admiring the beauty that art has poured onto paper, which we can see displayed in this ballroom. It’s also about extending support to a cause far more significant than us. The proceeds from selling this magnificent book will flow towards St John Phnom Penh, a leading youth organization providing first-aid training and humanitarian services for Cambodians.” He added.
