THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN WILL PROVIDE SEVENTY-SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS TO THREE ORGANIZATIONS

PHNOM PENH: On Monday, 26th February the Government of Japan will provide 768,627 dollars in total for 3 recipient organizations under the framework, the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects. The Grant Contract was signed today between TANINAI Ichitomo, Chargés d’Affaires ad interim, Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the representative of the recipients from Nature Center Risen (NCR), Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) and Foundation for International Development Relief (FIDR).

The Government of Japan will provide Seventy-Seven Thousand Dollars to Three Organizations A total of 160,140 dollars will be provided to Nature Center Risen (NCR) to Empower Early Childhood Environmental Education in Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia. In this project, NCR will take some activities to spread practical education for the environment from the age of early childhood in some kindergartens in Sihanoukville Province to address worsening issues alongside economic growth and the project aims to foster coexistence with nature for children and their parents.

The Government of Japan will provide Seventy-Seven Thousand Dollars to Three OrganizationsA total of 414,756 dollars will be provided to Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) to improve the access and quality of Early Childhood Education in the public preschools in Oddar Meanchey. In this project, SVA will improve the physical and human educational environment that supports young children to solve the education gap between city and rural areas. In addition, SVA aims to improve access and the quality of activities in public preschools in Oddar Meanchey province located in northwestern Cambodia.

The Government of Japan will provide Seventy-Seven Thousand Dollars to Three OrganizationsA total of 193,731 will be provided to Foundation for International Development/Relief (FIDR) to Promote the Regional Medical Cooperation System in Northeastern Cambodia through Strengthening Surgical Practice. In this project, FIDR aims to improve cooperation among hospitals and health centers in northeastern Cambodia by extending the capabilities and leadership of Kratie Provincial Referral Hospital to serve as the regional hub for surgery. In addition, district hospitals and health centers will also be trained to accurately identify patients conditions and to refer them appropriately to upper-level hospitals.

The Government of Japan will provide Seventy-Seven Thousand Dollars to Three OrganizationsThe Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects started in Cambodia in 2002 to support activities by Japanese NGOs to help Cambodia’s reconstruction and development efforts at the grassroots level. Since 2002, the Government of Japan has provided over US$54 million for 156 projects, mainly in the fields of primary education, health, agriculture and mine clearance in Cambodia.
