Directors and Management and Board of Directors:
Orchid Koh Pich Hospital was legally established following the general health provisions of the Ministry of Health of Cambodia. To help ensure good governance of Orchid Koh Hospital operations, the board of directors has played an essential role in ensuring good governance of the Hospital including holding meeting on a quarterly basis to review the Hospital’s goals, business strategies, financial performance, raising startup capital, keeping shareholders informed, and addressing emerging risks and opportunities as they arise. In addition the Chairperson of the Board, Dr. Ek Mengly provides daily medical technical management support in the capacity of Director of Medical Services.
Orchid Koh Pich Hospital founder by Dr. Ek Mengly is an experienced obstetrician and gynecologist with over 15 years’ experience providing special care to women in Cambodia. Previously she had worked as Chief of Maternity Services at Calmette Hospital from 2012 – 2015, completed her studies and training of Colposcopy in France and Endoscopy in Vietnam and has been a Professor at University of Health Sciences. She is deeply passionate about women having safe births including normal delivery, epidural and C-sections. When consulting with Dr. Mengly, she offers a full range of obstetric and gynecological services including low and high risk obstetrics, ultrasound, maternity and gynecology surgery, colposcopy and cervical pathology. She will be by your side throughout your pregnancy, labor and delivery. In addition, she is an expert in laparoscopy including management of complex ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancies, endometriosis, fibroids, fertility-enhancing diagnostic & operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and other procedures as needed.
Dr. Ek Mengly also served as Chairwoman on Lux Care Capital Board and has been General Manager of Clinic Lux since 2014. She is highly motivated, business driven and a proponent of learning. Often she’s invited to speak at health conferences on sexual reproductive health, child healthcare and nutrition. Dr. Mengly believes her work can contribute to the reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity rate in Cambodia.
Dr. Emerson M. Mar is the Chief Executive Officer of Orchid Koh Pich Hospital. In 2007 Emerson moved from New York City to work in Cambodia. He worked with local and international non-government (NGOs) organizations in response to Cambodia’s health care issues including HIV/AIDS, family planning, safe motherhood, tuberculosis, and child nutrition. Prior to coming to Cambodia, Emerson had worked for the Medical Health Research Association of New York City managing a multimillion-dollar health project with hospitals and health centers. In 2009 Emerson joined Marie Stopes Cambodia (MSC), where he led the expansion of family planning clinics and outreach services, social marketing of medical abortion, implant and other pharmaceutical products nationwide. He helped to streamline MSC business strategy and clinical operations including de medicalizing, with local, client-focused, hotline services, and maximizing clinics’ operational efficiency. He also helped to fundraise with international donors to support the provisions of quality family services. Emerson had also served as Deputy Chief of Party and Senior Director for USAID/EC/GF funded health projects implemented nationwide. Emerson holds a Master degree in Business Administration from New York State University, Business Project Management from New York University and B.A. in Political Science from Stony Brook University of New York.
