SARA MINKARA SPECIAL ADVISOR ON INTERNATIONAL DISABILITY RIGHTS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE VISIT CAMBODIA

PHNOM PENH: U.S. Special Advisor on International and Disability Rights (SAIDR) Sara Minkara visited the Kingdom of Cambodia August 1-2 to learn about inclusive employment and education for persons with disabilities and building capacity with stakeholders from government, the private sector, and civil society to increase overall societal participation.

Sara Minkara, Special Advisor on International Disability Rights, U.S. Department of State Visit CambodiaSAIDR Minkara met with officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to touring a Ford factory with representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training to learn first-hand about inclusive employment in action in Cambodia. She also toured a school for children with special needs and met with civil society to learn about the challenges to and opportunities for participation for persons with disabilities.

“We need to make sure that persons with disabilities are brought to the table, and that table is being made accessible. When society includes persons with disabilities, there is no limit to our potential.” Sara Minkara said.
