Dara Hotels Group held its first charity “Family Fun Run” over the weekend, May 8th, 2022, in conjunction with Mother’s Day to raise funds for Shanty Town Spirits. The inaugural event had an overwhelming response of close to 500 runners taking part and raised over US$3,000.
The 5-kilometer run was flagged off at 7:00 am by the kids from Shanty Town Spirits, Management and Staff of Dara Hotels Group, and All-Fit Cambodia as it went around The Elysee in Diamond Island, Koh Pich, and concluded at the iconic “The Arc De Triomphe” tower with a short awarding program.
Weng Aow, Managing Director of Dara Hotels Group shared, “We are thrilled with the excellent result of our first charity Family Fun Run as we have achieved a breakthrough in terms of both several runners and the total amount of donation from what we are expecting. Family Fun Run demonstrates our commitment to driving sustainable social and economic impacts in the communities where we live and operate. We will continue to organize initiatives supporting the local charities in a meaningful way”.
The Family Fun Run also aims to encourage everyone, especially the younger generation, to live their best lives by promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and creating strong team synergy while making a difference in the community with family.
Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), Urban Village, Canadia Bank, U-Pay, The Elysee, Sorya Center Point, and Ratana Plaza are the major sponsors this year followed by Cambodian Country Club, Rose Garden, InterCare, Olympia Medical Hub, The Olympia City, Sovannaphum Life, Jouvence Fitness, Lucius Japanese Restaurant, CIS Roller Dome, Coconut Park, The Olympia Mall, Dinosaurs Alive, Pilla, All-Fit Cambodia, BTV, FYN Media, and Maharlikans.
All proceeds from the event will go to Shanty Town Spirits to help provide hundreds of impoverished families and children for them to have a clean and safe environment, access to education, and essentials like food and healthcare services.
