In response to a request from the Royal Government of Cambodia and with a view to strengthening friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Government of Japan has decided to extend its ODA Yen Loan up to the amount of 6,336,000,000, which is approximately equivalent to USD 57.6 million for the“Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project ( phase II )” and 5 Grant Aid projects up to the total amount of ¥ 1,600,000,000 which is approximately equivalent to USD 14.5 million for the “Economic and Social Development Programme”.
In the “Siem Reap Water Supply Expansion Project ( phase II )”, intake facilities, a 60,000 m3/day capacity water treatment facility, and distribution pipes which are over 200km long will continue to be developed in Siem Reap following the progress of phase I.
In the “Economic and Social Development Programme”, various types of facilities and equipment will be provided in 5 sectors as follows;
– Landmine Action Sector: 200 million (USD 1.8 million)
– Construction Material Sector: 250 million (USD 2.3 million)
– Cadastral Survey Sector: 250 million (USD 2.3 million)
– Human Resource Development Sector: 400 million (USD 3.6 million)
– Manufacturing Sector: 500 million (USD 4.5 million)
It is expected that these cooperation projects will contribute to the future development of Cambodia in each field, and also to the mutual understanding and the building of friendly relations between Japan and Cambodia.
Notes to these projects were exchanged between H.E. Mr. PRAK Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and H.E. Mr. MIKAMI Masahiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia, at 9:00 on 11 October 2021 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
