Phnom Penh: The Embassy of Malaysia visited the Sacrifice Families and Orphans Development Association Centre (SFODA) on Tuesday 29t of September 2020.
H.E. Ambassador Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia led the delegation, together with Madam Masdiana Mohamad, Chairperson of PERWAKILAN (The Malaysian Diplomats’ Spouses Association). They were accompanied by Embassy officials and staff, PERWAKILAN members, and a number of individuals who came to support the program.
The visit included brief remarks by Ambassador Eldeen and the SFODA representative, activities and games, as well as the handing out donations of food such as rice, fish sauce, snacks, bedding items, toiletry items, sports equipment, reusable face masks, and other essential items for the center’s 46 orphaned children.
It was a great opportunity for Ambassador Eldeen and the entire delegation to spend time with the wonderful kids, learning about their daily activities, and teaching them a few Malaysian traditional games. Besides presenting a donation to the center, the ambassador also presented gifts, lunch from KFC, and cake as a birthday treat for all of the children. The Embassy had also undertaken some repair works at the center.
This SFODA visit under the umbrella of the Embassy “We Care, We Share” program, is the continuation of the Embassy’s efforts to show support and solidarity to the Cambodian government and the Cambodian people, especially in our collective fight against Covid-19. An orphan center was chosen for this round of “We Care, We Share” because these less fortunate children are already facing difficulties without the love and care of their biological parents. Their difficulties are obviously compounded with the Covid-19 uncertainty.
The visit to SFODA would not have been a success without the full commitment of all concerned. In this connection, the Embassy of Malaysia would like to express its profound appreciation to PDT, KFC, THADA, Ramatex, Maybank, Almond Group, Minamas Bakery, BritCham, Khmer Times, and to many other companies and individuals for their selfless dedication and generous donation. A special token of appreciation goes to MBCC in helping us reach out to our generous donors to help these special children.
