PHNOM PENH: Friday, 6th December 2019, The Embassy of The Republic of Korea, in Cambodia, cooperated with the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia to host the opening ceremony of 13th Korean Film Festival in Cambodia at Chaktomuk Theater.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Park Sang Gyeong, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Cambodia. H.E. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts delivered a welcome and congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony.
The opening night of the opening ceremony is the premiere of Korea’s most successful film “EXIT” in the summer of 2019. This film was watched by nearly 10 million people. “EXIT” is an attack comedy movie that depicts the struggle for survival of both characters, Yong Nam (Cho Jung-Suk) and Eui-Ju (Im Yoon-a) from the poison gas incident.
In 2019 is very special event celebrating the 100th anniversary of Korean film making. The festival organizer invited the director of “EXIT” film Mr. Lee Sang-Geun to provide welcoming remarks during the 13th Korean Film Festival at the Chaktomuk Theater.
From Saturday, 7th through Sunday, 8th of December 2019, the Korean Film Festival will be showing five films at Legend Cinemas and Major Complex by Smart at AEON Mall. In addition to the film “EXIT”, which was shown in the opening ceremony, there will also be other films such as “PARASITE” directed by Bong Joon-Ho, Winning Award of Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. “CRAZY ROMANCE” will be shown in Cambodia soon. “NAMELESS GANGSER” a corrupt customs officer steals a confiscated shipment of methamphetamine and partners with a crime boss to start a business and “MERRY CRISTSMAS MR. MO”, which is the heartbreaking story of a character and his family facing death.
