JENESYS 2019 Youth Exchange Program (Canoeing)

Phnom Penh: Friday, 13rd of September 2019 base on Press Release No. 49 PR-19/EoJ 15 athletes and a coach of the Cambodian Canoeing and Rowing Federation are going to visit Japan from 16th to 25th of September 2019 at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan under a youth exchange program “JENESYS 2019”.

This program was focused on sports exchange of canoeing, since Japan and Cambodia have nurtured friendship in canoeing through the coaching by Mr. Tsuchiya Ryuichi, coach of the Federation, since 2012.

During the program, the participants will have a meeting with Mr. Masanori Narita, President of the Japan Canoe Federation, and observe the Sea Forest Waterway, venue for the canoe and rowing competition during the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020. They will have joint training with members of Japanese national team and the canoe tournament at Lake Kiba Canoe Sprint Course in Komatsu-city, Ishikawa Prefecture. The JENESYS aims to promote mutual trust and understanding among the people of Japan and participating countries and to build a basis for future friendship and cooperation. Through the program, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has invited more than 2,000 Cambodian youths since 2007.

It is expected that the participants will deepen their understanding of Japan and after coming back, share their experience widely with the people in Cambodia.
