PHNOM PENH: Tuesday 5th of March 2019, Gourmets of Cambodia will be treated to a series of Michelin Chef Dinners this week at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra and Sofitel Angkor Phookeethra Golf & Spa Resort. The culinary brigades of both properties will be joined by renowned Chef Philippe Michel from the Bergundy restaurant La Marande, located in France.
The one-star Michelin Chef adopts a new approach to French gastronomy delicately bringing a touch of originality with his own elegant touch and sensitive ideas to create sumptuous dishes straight from the heart prepared with fresh produce. Philippe Michel trained under several prestigious top names in the world of gastronomy such as Gérard Besson, Pierre Gagnaire, Pierre Hermé and Georges Wenger. Thanks to his rewarding experiences, he has gained extensive knowledge of culinary traditions combining know-how and discipline.
Charles-Henri Chevet, Area General Manager of Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra described “The dinner as yet another opportunity for our friends in Cambodia to sample some of the best cuisine from Europe. We will also open our kitchen for an exclusive cooking class that will allow you to learn culinary techniques alongside one of the greatest French Chefs”.
Chef Philippe Michel will showcase a six course menu featuring Deep Sea Scallop Tartar, Smoked Black Angus Rib-Eye and Burgundy Escargot. Burgundy is not only renowned for its sumptuous cuisine, but also boasts some of the best white wines in the world and the most luscious expression of Pinot Noir. To discover the deepness of the region’s 1,200 climates, Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra will offer a selection of village and Grand Crus wines at a discovery price.
The Michelin Star Dinner series will be held in Phnom Penh from 6:00pm on Wednesday 6th March & Thursday 7th March, moving to Siem Reap on Saturday 9th March at 7:00pm. Those looking to perfect their culinary skills can also join Chef Maetz in the kitchen at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra on Thursday 7th March from 10:30am for a cooking demonstration followed by lunch with the chef.
