The inauguration of Sanloek Tes Art Gallery on June 27 was presided over by Her Excellency Koy Pisey, Deputy Chief of Permanent Secretariat of the National Authority in Charge of Border Affairs.
Sanloek Tes Art Gallery is a place where artistic masterpieces are collected and produced by artists with exceptional creativity to maintain Khmer identity. A variety of artistic masterpieces produced by gifted Cambodian artists of Sanloek Tes, located inside Wat Phnom resort, were put on display.
Her Excellency Koy Pisey, during the inauguration, expressed her appreciation to the investment initiative stating firstly that the gallery will be both a place to keep Khmer heritages and make the masterpieces known, and secondly, create job opportunities for gifted and creative artists.
Ms Khek Khemrath, owner of Sanloek Tes Gallery, said that Sanloek Tes was established to respond to the current souvenir market, in which creativity in Khmer fashion is limited. “We actually lack creativity in producing Khmer-fashioned souvenirs, which could be gifts for foreign delegations or guests in official meetings. There are many different kinds of souvenirs; however, there are not so many souvenirs with exceptional creativity and Khmer fashion,” she noted.
“The gallery will be both a place for tourists to enjoy and observe Cambodian richness in culture when they visit Wat Phnom resort”, she added.
