Asian International Children’s Film Festival 2019-Preliminary In-Country Contest in Cambodia

Phnom Penh: No. 48 PR-19/EoJ: The Wednesday of 11st of September Preliminary In-Country Contest in Cambodia for the “Asian International Children’s Film Festival 2019” was successfully held on Monday 16th of September 2019 at the Cambodia- Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC).

This preliminary contest was organized by the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and CJCC. The theme of the films this year is “How do you think about causing others trouble. Is it okay if only you are good? Can you think about other people?”. 69 films were submitted by students of 34 high schools in Cambodia, and 15 films were pre-selected and screened at the contest.

This Festival started in Japan in 2007, and since then, it has been organized every year. Cambodian students have been invited to this Festival since 2009. This year, 9 Students of the 3 winning groups from Cambodia (see below) will be invited to Japan under the JENESYS “Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths” 2019 program, along with students from Japan, other ASEAN countries, China, Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, Taiwan and Timor-Leste. They will participate in the final round of the Festival as representatives of Cambodian students in Minami-Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan on Saturday 7th December 2019.
