A Fortnight to Celebrate and Strengthen Friendship between France and Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: The French Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFC), the French Embassy in Cambodia and the French Institute in Cambodia (IFC) organize from 18 of March to 30th of March the French Weeks in Phnom Penh. A series of cultural and economic events to promote French and Cambodian cultures, partnership and exchange between the two countries.

Creativity, energy, know-how and talents await you for a fortnight of meetings and discovery!

The French Weeks will start on 18th of March by a charity cocktail in support of hotel schools organized by the CCIFC “Good France Cambodia” committee. The first week will then continue with the Francophonie Day which will highlight the French Language in Cambodia through various creative operations: poetic picnics will be organized within more than fifteen different partner institutions (RULE, ITC, Renée Descartes French high school, French International School, NGO such as PSE, etc…), a French dictation will take place at the French Institute. French gastronomy will flourish across ten restaurants in Phnom Penh during the international “Goût de France” dinner. The first week will end on a festive tone with the typically French “Ginguette” dancing party at the French Institute on 23rd of March.

The second week will open on a molecular gastronomy demonstration at the Academy of Culinary Arts of Cambodia. A conference on sustainable city will provide opportunities for experts talks on urban development in Cambodia. At the French Institute, the public will be able to test their knowledge during a French trivia game, visit the Em Riem exhibition and watch Funan, an animated film on Cambodia by a French-Cambodian director.

The French marketplace will close the French Weeks in style. The French Embassy will open its doors to the public and will host more than fifty exhibitors on 30th of March from 10am to 6pm for a festive day with numerous activities (Sports area, Four – Hand gastronomy demonstration with a starred chef, kid activities and playground, mini-conferences…). This day will not only be the opportunity to discover French culture and products but also French entrepreneurs’ know-how associated with Cambodian traditions.
