PHNOM PENH: On 17 June 2022, the send-off ceremony for high school students of the Japanese Scholarship program “ASIA KAKEHASHI Project 2022 batch 5” was held at the Ambassador’s residence, hosted by H.E Ambassador MIKAMI Masahiro with the attendance of H.E YORK Ngoy, Secretary of state of Ministry of Education Youth and Sports and Mr. SEANG Nimorl, Deputy Director of Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center.
This project was launched in 2018 by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) to foster human resources that can serve as bridges between Asian countries. So far, 37 Cambodians have traveled to Japan to attend high schools, familiarize themselves with the Japanese language and culture, and deepen their knowledge of Japan.
12 students will leave for Japan on 25 June 2022 and the program hope that through their experience in Japan, they will deepen their understanding of the Japanese language, culture, and society and, as the name of the project implies, become bridges between the two countries.
