Plantation Urban Resort & Spa is pleased to present Manifest, a new solo exhibition by Cambodia-based artist Lena Kinza, opening on Saturday, 15 August 2026.
Exploring themes of perception, transformation and the ever-changing nature of reality, Lena Kinza’s work invites viewers to question what it truly means to be seen. Working across a range of media—from traditional canvas to skin—she combines classical artistic discipline with contemporary visual expression, creating symbolic works that challenge the boundaries between the visible and the hidden.
At the heart of Manifest is the contrast between what appears on the surface and what lies beneath. The exhibition unfolds like a box of brightly wrapped candies: colourful, playful and inviting at first glance, but revealing deeper meanings as each layer is unwrapped.
“I wanted Manifest to play with the contrast between what we see and what lies beneath the surface. The works may first appear bright, playful and inviting, but each painting carries another layer—a message, a question, or a critical reflection on the world around us. For me, context is essential: we should not always trust our first impression but take the time to look closer and discover what is not immediately visible. Through colour, symbolism and a nonverbal visual language, I invite viewers to create their own interpretation and perhaps question the way they see reality, identity and one another.”
The exhibition also reflects on the objectification of women, asking whether complete visibility can ever lead to genuine freedom. Can exposure, perception and the act of revealing reshape the way we see one another? Inspired by these questions, Manifest encourages visitors to look beyond appearances and engage in a deeper conversation about identity, perception and human experience.
Educated in classical art, Lena Kinza developed a strong foundation in technique and craftsmanship. Yet constant criticism, pressure to perform and the pursuit of perfection gradually distanced her from the simple joy of creating. After moving to Cambodia, the country’s cultural diversity and more open environment helped her rediscover that passion, shaping the artistic voice presented in Manifest.
