Siem Reap: On June 18, 2026, as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebrations, the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh and the Regional English Language Office at the U.S. Embassy Hanoi, in coordination with The Asia Foundation, hosted the Regional Access Summit in Siem Reap. The three-day event, titled “Re-Imagining Education”, brought together English Access Scholarship students and teachers from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam and educators from the United States to build regional networks, enhance language skills, and develop leadership capabilities.
The summit focuses on experiential learning and American-style teaching methodologies, highlighting the strong educational and people-to-people ties between the United States and Southeast Asia. U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh Chargé d’Affaires a. i. Benjamin Chiang and His Excellency Dr Som Ratana, undersecretary of state, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia, opened the 2026 Regional Access Summit in Siem Reap on June 18.
“Today’s gathering reflects our shared commitment to advancing educational excellence, strengthening language learning, and preparing the next generation for the workforce of tomorrow,” said Chargé d’Affaires Chiang. “I encourage all participants to use this opportunity to sharpen their English, communication, and leadership skills while actively developing meaningful solutions for their communities.”
The English Access Scholarship Program has supported thousands of young learners across the region by expanding access to English language education and creating opportunities for academic and professional growth. Students will participate in activities like collaborative projects, leadership workshops, and cultural programming designed to promote regional connections and workforce readiness.
