U.S. EMBASSY RELEASES KHMER NEW YEAR VIDEO CELEBRATING KUN LBOKATOR

Phnom Penh: The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh extends its heartfelt wishes to the Cambodian people for a joyous Khmer New Year!  In celebration of this important holiday, the embassy is excited to unveil our latest Khmer New Year video: “United in Heritage: A Tribute to Kun Lbokator,” an exploration of Cambodia’s oldest martial art.

The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh invites the public to enjoy viewing this tribute and share the full video on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and X. In the video, a group of Americans learns about the history of Kun Lbokator as a symbol of strength, resilience, and Cambodian identity. The production highlights the deep cultural roots of this storied martial art and its significance to the Khmer spirit.

The video features a Chargé d’Affaires. i. Bridgette L. Walker, who is joined by Cambodia’s Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona.  Together, they reflect on the vital importance of passing down ancient traditions to the next generation and the continued collaboration between the United States and Cambodia on cultural preservation.

The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh would like to express its sincere gratitude to those who made this project possible, including the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, the National Museum of Cambodia, Khmer Act Action, and filmmaker Chanrado Sok and team. The U.S. Embassy extends its warmest wishes to the people of Cambodia for a happy, healthy, and peaceful Khmer New Year.
