In celebration of this major holiday, the embassy is excited to unveil its latest Khmer New Year video, The Kun Khmer Kid, a cross-cultural adventure showcasing Cambodia’s traditional martial art. In the video, Dan, a newly arrived American diplomat, is introduced to Kun Khmer. He trains with Tharoth Sam, a Cambodian silver medalist of the World MMA Championships 2023, and immerses himself in discipline and months of rigorous training to fight in a friendly Kun Khmer match. Spoiler alert: Friendship wins the match, symbolizing unity and mutual respect between our countries.
