Phnom Penh: The Government of Japan will provide US$199,454 for a recipient organization under the framework of the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects. The Grant Contract was signed today between H.E. Mr. UENO Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and the representative of the recipient to carry out the Nature Center Risen (NCR) for Empowerment of Infants and Their Parents in Cambodia through Environmental Education.
In this project, Nature Center Risen will implement environmental education for young children and their parents in some kindergartens in Cambodia to spread a successful educational curriculum from some modeled kindergartens in Sihanoukville. This will improve school facilities and create educational materials related to environmental education in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MOEYS) of Cambodia and the Provincial Offices of Education, Youth, and Sports (PoEYS). Through this project, it is aimed to extend environmental education to all the local kindergartens from these model institutions.
The Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects started in Cambodia in 2002 to support activities by Japanese NGOs to help Cambodia’s reconstruction and development efforts at the grassroots level. Since 2002, the Government of Japan has provided over US$56 million for over 160 projects, mainly in the field of primary education, health, agriculture, and mine clearance in Cambodia.
