Phnom Penh: Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra & Recreation Cambodia is thrilled to present “Naturality,” a remarkable new series by acclaimed Cambodian artist Nout Daro. The exhibition will open to the public on November 4, 2024, showcasing Daro’s evocative works that celebrate the beauty and vitality of nature.
Born in Kandal Province in 1991, Daro graduated with a Bachelor’s in Sculpture and
Painting from the Royal University of Fine Arts in 2018. Following his studies, he
volunteered with NGOs to refine his skills, ultimately uncovering his unique artistic
style that has resonated with audiences nationally and internationally. In 2024, Daro
won the prestigious Jury Award in the Ekarieach competition, organized by Sofitel
Phnom Penh Phokeethra, marking another milestone in his rapidly rising career. He
has exhibited widely, from local galleries to international venues in Singapore, and
currently teaches art at Yamada School of Art and AUPP High School.
Daro’s “Naturality” series is inspired by the simplicity and grace of fallen leaves, which he views as nature’s art. Blending themes of nature, life, and culture, each piece features his signature “Sunrise colors”—vibrant hues symbolizing the sun’s energy and its fundamental role in sustaining life. Daro’s heartfelt message through this collection is a call to appreciate and protect the natural world. He says, “Love nature the way you love your child.”
Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra continues its tradition of promoting local talent and
enriching Phnom Penh’s cultural landscape through the arts. “With artists like Daro,
we aim to spotlight Cambodia’s artistic heritage and promote Phnom Penh as a
vibrant cultural destination,” said General Manager Charles-Henri Chevet.
