The Embassy of Japan Cambodia Annulment Kizuna Festival 2019

Base on No. 06 PR-19/EoJ and The Embassy of Japan, in collaboration with the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC) and the Japan Foundation Asia Center, is going to organize the 8th Japan-Cambodia Kizuna Festival from 21 to 24 February 2019 at CJCC, which is an annual event organized since 2012 for the purpose of presenting the culture of Japan and Cambodia and promoting further exchanges between the people of both countries. The Embassy of Japan would like to invite all interested media to cover the opening ceremony on Thursday, 21 February, from 18:30 to 20:00 as well as other events.

The main events of the festival are as follows:

  • Thursday, 21 February

18:30 ​- 20:00 The Opening Ceremony: Khmer Traditional Dance, Japanese traditional and modern performance by MINYO GIRLS and Area Rock Styler, Lkhon Khol Wat Svay Andet (Cambodian and International guests are expected to attend.)

  • Friday, 22 February
  • 14:00 – 15:00 Workshop by JSR
  • 18:00 – 19:00 Concert by MINYO GIRLS
  • Saturday, 23 February
  • 14:00 – 15:30 Joint Concert by Worldship Orchestra and Angkor Youth Orchestra
  • 18:00 – 19:00 Dance workshop by Area Rock Styler
  • Sunday, 24 February
  • 09:30 – 11:30 Martial Arts Demonstration (Karate-do, Aiki-do, Kendo and Bokator)
  • 15:00 – 16:00 Let’s Cosplay Kizuna by Narutail
  • 17:00 – 20:00 Lkhon Bassacc (Special Show & Lkhon Bassacc Preah Sisovan)

The theme of this year’s festival is “Experience Together”. Under this theme, we will bring more experiences or activities for participants to join in the festival. All of the above-mentioned events will include activities in which participants can do together with artists. In addition, the festival will feature more workshops, such as face-painting of “Lkhon Bassacc”, workshop of the world heritage conservation by Japanese Government Team for Safeguarding Angkor, trial of traditional wear of “Chong Kban” and “Yukata”, Japanese cultural session for tea ceremony “Sa-do”, folding paper “Origami”, flower arrangement “Ikebana”, and calligraphy “Syo-do”, as well as other various activities. The pamphlet with the detailed program of the festival is attached herewith.

We recommend all participants to wear t-shirts or sportswear for joining activities and hope that through the activities, they feel closer to Japan and deepen their understanding of Cambodian and Japanese culture.
